Legoland trip update

Due to the success and positive feedback received from parents last year we have decided to organize another whole school summer trip. This year we will be visiting Legoland in Windsor.

Based on your interest we have provisionally booked four, 70 seater coaches and we have calculated that the cost of the trip will be £20 per child and £28 per adult with infants 0-2 years old paying £12 for the cost of their seat on the bus. Children attending from a Comprehensive School are required to pay adult price.

Due to the high level of interest we are unfortunately unable to accommodate everybody on the trip and therefore places will be offered on a first come first served basis. Once all places available have been filled a reserves list will be made. If there is enough interest shown there is a possibility of booking a fifth bus.

PAYMENTS
To secure your place on the trip we kindly ask that you pay a non-refundable deposit of £5 per person by Wednesday 20th March with the remainder of the cost of the bus paid by Friday 19th April. The final amount will need to be paid by Friday 24th May as Legoland require payment before arrival. Failure to complete your full payment will result in your place being given to those on the reserves list. You are welcome to pay in installments to Mrs. Thomas.

Swimming sessions this term

The Junior classes will be taking part in the Learn to Swim programme this term. Swimmers and non swimmers will visit the Ystrad sport centre every THURSDAY for 6 weeks, starting this week.
Children will be put into appropriate stages and the lessons are adapted to each child. Sometimes pupils can be a little nervous in the first week but as soon as they get in the pool they have lots of fun.
Time is limited so pupils will not have time to shower and wash / dry their hair after the swim. It is sometimes a good idea to tie long hair up in a bun/plait so the water does not run down the back of their jumpers. Also please remember children need to be able to dress themselves which is sometimes tricky after swimming so easy clothing and footwear is a good idea (e.g. trousers and not tights)
Children will need to bring their swimming costume, a towel and a pair of goggles in a separate bag.
These lessons are an important part of the PE Curriculum and all pupils are expected to take part. If your child is unable to attend a session for medical reasons please can you inform the class teacher by letter.
